Born in Switzerland to Egyptian parents, Philip Shalam grew up in London, in an international and artistic environment. Philip received his first camera at the age of 13. After school, he went to study at the London College of Printing. His passion for photography began at the same time as his collection of movie posters, that passion has not left him since. Through the eye of Philip, a new meaning and a particular aesthetic are given to a wide range of topics.
Empty but living landscapes, skyscrapers where all reflections are possible, straight and endless roads, graffiti and streetart are his favourite and recurring themes in his photographs. They came to him during his many travels around the United States where he lived and worked for 25 years. Back in Europe, Philip has expanded his range by playing with the local climate and allying himself with the elements. He experiments with reflections and symmetries in puddles, and with different lenses that offer a reality from a unique perspective.
Philip has exhibited in Milan, New York, London and Brussels.
